On the Interbus the next morning, heading up to the Arenal Volcano area.  Interbus' slogan is "Really Good."

While we found the public bus system completely easy to use (for someone with very basic Spanish abilities), Interbus is also a good option.  For $25 per person they will pick you up at your hotel and drive you to the hotel at your destination.  And you share the ride with other tourists, so you can get suggestions about other places to visit as you travel.
