Great News!

The needle exchange funding ban was lifted in the House.  It still has to pass through the Senate, but if all goes well, it is possible that DC will be able to fund its own needle exchange starting this fall.  Hooray! Here are some great Washington Post stories that provide more details: From the front [...]

Quick Update (more to come when we’ve got some time…)

We have lots of pictures of the progress of the house, but no time to sort through them and put them up for all to see.  We’ll try to get to that in the next few weeks.  But in the meantime Frank wrote a funny email to me that I had to post on here.  [...]

Thank you, whoever you are…

A mysterious package arrived today…it’s a compost bin, but there is no note saying who it was from.  Any hints from anyone out there?  We are very excited to start composting! The Washington Post gets on board

The front page of today’s Metro section featured an article about PreventionWorks — the third mention of PW in major news sources in a week! It’s really hard to be leaving the field right as all this positive momentum is building.  If the ban is lifted, I’m sure I’ll find my way right back into [...]

DC Needle Exchange in the NY Times (twice in 7 days!)

This is a very exciting time at PreventionWorks. (It makes it even harder to be leaving!) I failed to mention that last week’s article appeared on the *front page* of the NY Times with a great photo of Ron Daniels. The article attracted a lot of attention and as of Friday we had gotten over [...]
